 ELECTION BLUES

Now election fever has come to the country.  All political parties play the role of good Samaritan. They try to ally with other . good Samaritans.  Ultimately, the aim is to once again deceive the public and loot the country. Non of the political party is having the idea of developing the country. Their only aim is to develop themselves. The new born AAP appeared or appears tobe somewhat reasonable.  However the existing old politicial parties try to swallow the new party with all their experience and discreetful methods.  They have bought the media to suppress the new party.  Neverthe less the new party is also not .  having  maturity of mind. . The party leaders thing they are above all the existing politicians. They forget that the old politicians are experienced dragons and they can swallow anything coming on their way.  The founder of the party Mr. Kejriwal  thinks he has already become PM of India and the entire Governance is now in his hands.  He is the Alnasher. of politics and he is going tolose the goodwill of the Public. If he moves with calculated steps he may survive for few years in the politicial scenariao.  Otherwise his party will go to the dust. His ideals will be buried dishonourably.. The another Good Samaritan Anna Hazare simply sang the song of anti corruption and went into oblivion.  He does not have the guts and courage to take the power and show the politicians and the people what is clean Governance. He is only a barking dog.  He give him power.  He will shiver. He will be confused. WE have to wait and see how the old tigers unite and attack the public by their manifestos and how far the public are going to fall victim.   Whoever comes to power, history will repeat itself for another five years.  We can see the Indian Tamasha once again.

BANKING GOES PRIVATE

In 1969 Government of India Nationalized  14 Banks and in 1975 another 5 Banks in order to make the Banking easily accessible to common man especially in rural sector.  At the time of nationalisation it was said that only the Banking Business was nationalized and not the Banks and as such the Banks could retain their individual identity. In 1980 in the name of economic reforms there was a move to amalgamate the Nationalized the Banks and to have only two or three Banks to take care of the Banking Business.  However the move was opposed vigorously by the Unions and the then Finance Minister assured that there was no such move.  Again in 2008 there were moves to merge some "weak" Banks with some 'strong Banks'; and this move has also been kept in cold storage for the reasons known to authorities only.

Whether the purpose of Nationalization has been fulfilled or not is a question of dispute and fit for debate. The Government which justified the Nationalization saying that the profits of Banks were going to few business houses only . and henceforth the Banks' profit would be transferred to Government's coffer.  Now the technological advent in the Banking Industry has changed the Banking scenario and the Government is reversing its earlier stand on Nationalization as far as the earnings are concerned.  The RBI  introducing a new scheme in which the private companies having Net Worth of Rs.100/- Crores and above  would be allowed to open ATMs in Type III to Type VI areas. The ATMS already opened by the existing Commercial Banks including Nationalized Banks are mainly in Type I and Type II Centres.  The ATMs have not been provided in Type III to VI Centres.  According to RBI, by allowing the private companies to open ATMs in these areas the people of smaller towns would be benefited.  The Banking transactions would be transferred to the private companies by allowing them to open ATMS.  The name given to the Private Companies' ATMs is White Label ATMs)(WLA).The Private players would provide all Banking services to the customers of Banks in India.

In the First year the Private players are supposed to open minimum of 1000 WLAs and in the II Year double that of I year WLAs and in the Third Year Triple that of II Year WLAs.The point here is that while the Banking Business was transferred from Private hands to Government in 1969, now it is being transferred to Private Hands back in a phased manner.  In opening the WLAs FDI is also allowed.  This scheme is going to be materialised in few months' time.  What the Employees'Unions and Officers' Associations are going to do in safeguarding the Banking Industry going to Privte Hands back?  What is the man power utilisation in the Banking sector ? Whether there will be recruitment in the Banks?

Lokpal Bill Fast by Anna Hazare

Again Anna Hazre is observing a token fast on 11.12.11. The Government is playig tricks in drafting the Lokpal Bill. PM is exempted; top Judiciary is exempted and now CBI is exempted. Does it mean all these officials are above the law of the Land? They are 100% clean and spotless in their official life? Who can certify this? What is the basis on which they are kept away from the purview of the Lokpal Bill? Whether the Government is outwitting the Anna Hazare and his team or the entire Nation? I think the politicians are planning to put Anna Hazare and his team behid the bars. Probably the Government is contemplating to pass a bill making corruption as law of the Nation. We should be Law abiding people.

Lokpal Bill

The much talked about Lokpal Bill is now facing a major hurdle. I doubt whether it would see the light of the day. The Lokpal Bill is aimed at providing a corruption free nay a less corrupt administration to the public. But the beginning itself was made on a wrong note. The Constitution Committee was formed by including the politicians namely the four Ministers of Government of India whose integrity and "clean hands" is a big question mark. Being politicians they cannot be clean in their dealings. Mr. Veetrappa Moily's "Tape episode" and "Suit Case"culture of 1975-76 are world famous. While such is the case the inclusion of politicians in the constitution committee of Lokpal Bill is a blunder committed by the organiser Mr. Anna Hazare. If at all Government wanted to include some members in the committee on behalf of Government, they should be from among the public not politicians. It is quite natural that the representatives of the Government would like to safe guard the high loevel politicians like PM. The Lokpal Bill is going to be a Law of the Land. Are the PM, CJI etc., are above the law or what?
Are they next to God? The Bofors case was caused by Ex-PM and the land grabbing to the tune of hundreds of acres in Tamil Nadu and Kerala was caused by an Ex-CJI via his kit and kin.. Then,r why these incumbents should be exempted from the purview of the Lokpal Bill. Any corrupt person without naming the designation or post should be brought under the Law. Further Mr. Anna Hazare views corruption from a higher level. It is the lower level corruption that needs eradication since public are suffering in their day-to-day life. Especially the State Government Departments like, RTO, Sales Tax, Excise Dept., Corporation, City Development Authorities, Police Department, PWD, Electricity Department, Water Boards, Housing Boards, and all other departments. Time and again the Lokayukta of Karnataka has exposed many officials of the Government Departments with large amount of corrupt practice but no action has been taken by the State Government and they are still playing the safe corrupt game. Unless severe punishment and attaching the ill gotten wealth to the Government is contemplated the corruption could not be mitigated. Prima facie corruption cases should be decided immediately and punishment awarded by dismissal and attachment of excess properties. The bureaucrats and their subordinates are hand in glove in rearing the corruption at all levels. Apart from the Government bosses and servents the Real Estate and Business and Trade Tycoons spoil the economy of the country by their corrupt practice. They grease the palms of the politicians at all levels and officials of Government at all levels to get their business promoted. Politicians and Government Officials get their landed properties and huge amount of black money through such people only. What Mr. Anna Hazare could do ; even 'Hazar' Hazares could not do anything against these people. Only fast action and severe punishment may change the situastion to some extent. The proposed fast by Yoga man Ramdev is a mere gimmic and with some hidden purpose and policially motivated. Only God has to come down to earth to save the people provided He does not fall prey to the politicians and Government Officials.

Recent Elecdtion Results

The election results of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have gone in favour of erstwhile opposition parties namely AIADMK and Trinamool Congeress respectively. Both the States asre going to be ruled by spinsters. The debacle faced by the ruling parties is mainly due to the corruption that has been prevailing in the States. But one thing is to be remembered at this juncture. Whether both the ladies namely Ms. Jayalalitha and Ms. Mamta Banerjee are clean politicians? The answer is no. Both are corrupt themselves. Jayalalitha was removed from her last stint as CM of Tamil Nadu was due to her corrupt ruling and arrogant attitude. She suspended all the State Government employees when they went on Strike to press their demand, which was their right. Also she earned wealth disporportionate to her known source of income. Mamta Banerjee has also done a lot of corrupt practice to come to power. Being Railway Minister in the Centre, she has favoured her State only not taking an universal view while presenting her Budget. Thus the new Government in these States are not ging to be corruption free and people are not going to get any benefit. The DMK Government favoured its own cadre by giving freebies in the name of welfare activities for the public. Similar thing will happen in the regime of Jayalalitha also. Both the parties ruled Tamil Nadu several times earlier also. In thier earlier rule they swindled public money and anmassed wealth. During their recent rules they had been swindling the public land and amass landed property. Public are not learning lesson from the past. They willingly elect the rule of rowdies and corrupt. Long live the election tradition. Where is the 'Kalki Avathara'?
